About Corey's Bookshop

Nearly three decades of literary passion in Manchester

Our Story

Corey's Bookshop was founded in 1996, born from a deep love of literature and a belief that independent bookshops are vital to their communities. What started as a modest collection of classical titles has grown into a curated haven for readers who value quality, depth, and the timeless pleasure of a well-chosen book.

In 2017, we moved to Manchester — a city with a rich literary heritage that felt like the natural home for a bookshop like ours. Today, we continue to serve readers who appreciate the weight of a Dostoyevsky novel, the wild moors of Brontë, the social observation of Dickens, and the unsettling brilliance of Kafka.

What We Believe

We believe that a good bookshop should feel like a reading room — warm, unhurried, and filled with carefully chosen titles rather than bestseller piles. Every book on our shelves has been selected with care.

We don't sell online. We believe the best way to discover your next great read is in person — browsing the shelves, picking up a book, reading the first page. That's the experience we've spent three decades refining.

"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one." — George R.R. Martin
